The TImes They Are A-Changin'

The past few weeks for me have been quite eye opening and I don’t know how I feel about that. Ever since I started this term of college I have been running into old friends and catching up with them when I could. Some of these people I have not spoken to for years and some I have kept in contact with.  I am very glad that I am able to talk with the people that I consider my friends. I consider my friends a very important part of my life and I would not be the person I am today if it were not for every one of them. The friends that I have not spoken to in years are the ones I would like to talk about in today’s post.
As I catch up with these select few I am constantly learning new things about themselves. For the most part, they are totally different people from what I remember them being, which really isn’t a surprise. We all change over time and given enough of it we can become something that others never dreamed we could be. These changes, may they be for better or for worse, show me that life moves much faster than I have ever imagined it moving. Seeing my close and old friends grow up and experience things that I never would have imagined them experiencing is something that I honestly still have a hard time believing. Their changes also make me realize the changes that I have gone through since I last spoke to them.  And I see that, just like them, I am not the same person that I was 3 or even 5 years ago.
Part of me feels disconnected from my old friends, hearing about what has happened to them and knowing that I was not there to see or help them out along the way. I guess that cannot be helped. After all, I cannot be in more than one place and help everybody when they need it. I very much wish I could though. One thing you must know about me is that I am a huge people person. I thrive on helping my friends and those I love as well as their company. If I am completely alone I will go crazy. I don’t know what that is called, but I am sure that the world of psychology has a name for it.
I guess what I am trying to get across is that I feel like I am losing my friends to these changes of theirs as well as my own. I am also trying to say that I am not particularly a big fan of change, especially when it is as sudden as it has been recently. And I guess technically I am losing them, since the friends I am reconnecting with are, like I said, for the most part completely different people.
There really is nothing for it, but to get to know these new versions of the friends I have come to love dearly and adapt to any changes (mine and my friend's) that come my way; the good and the bad.

Quick Intro and Plans for the Blog

Well, this is my first ever blog. I have never attempted anything like this, or at least never attempted this online that is. My name is David Valdivia I live in a pleasant and boring little place in Oregon, and I am 70 years old. Haha, I am not really 70 years old, although I do feel like I am sometimes. Not because of my physical state at times, but rather what I say and how I think. The time that I have spent on this earth has made me realize that I do not think or feel as a typical man does of this generation. I have been known to rabble on and on about the morals in which this earth holds value in, political issues, news, science, philosophy, and many things that fall into the “Life” category. Heck I even prefer music from 1930-1960.   And whatever I have a passion for I have no problem letting everyone around me know it. However, do not let what I have written above lead you to think that I am a genius who sits beside the fireplace and reads a big book while smoking a pipe and tobacco. As much as I would like to be that sometimes, I am just an ordinary young man with the same flaws and sins as the next one. I may have different opinions and dreams, but on the whole I am just like you.
Now, that we have gotten that introduction out of the way let me tell you what I plan to do with this little bloggity of mine. What I want to do is post entries at least once a week. And if I find that writing these things gets easier as I go I will post more entries each week. The entries will consist mainly of my thoughts of recent events in my life or in the world (I read the news a lot so don’t be surprised if I ramble on about politics, science and whatnot). My personal thoughts on certain subjects will also make more than one appearance on here as well. And I may even put a book review on here from time to time (that is definatly a possibility).
I think I have covered the basis for today’s entry. Like I said before this is my first ever blog so I do not know if there is any blog etiquette concerning firsts. Oh well, it’s my blog and I can do whatever I want on here. BTW, if you would like to hear my opinions on certain subjects leave a comment or message me about what you want to hear. I would be more than glad to share what I think on whatever matter you throw at me. Plus I don’t have to worry about thinking up a new thing to talk about for the blog if you do, which makes my life just a little bit easier ;)
Well, this blog is already getting too long so I will wrap it up now. Thank you for taking the time to read this and I hope you will stick around for future posts. Now, it is time for me to sleep as much as I can before my home becomes a loud place full of males eating as much as they can and yelling at the T.V. screen. Later folks!
